Initially we were able to secure funding from the Astley Family Foundation for $75,000 ($25,000 per year for three years). This funding allowed for the development of the YWCA GirlSpace programs at two different locations. With strong program evaluations in place and purposeful community building, we were able to flip this experience into a multi-year grow grant through the Ontario Trillium Foundation worth $169,400 to expand the program to nine locations across the region, as well as a one-week summer camp.
