Spotlighting existing social impact

Helping Eviance build their social impact story

Founded in 1995 by disabilities trailblazer, Henry Enns, Eviance—formerly known as the Canadian Centre for Disability Studies—has been helping people with disabilities in Canada and their allies advance human rights through intersectional, community-based research committed to sustainable solutions rooted in action. They offer research services, knowledge-to-action activities, consultation and community representation, evaluation, and training and development.

Social Impact Activities

Eviance is an organization that was quiet about their social impact, to the point that they risked being overlooked and undervalued. The goal in this work was to identify, highlight and work to better communicate their social capital. This work started with an audit of their services and external communications to identify their social capital and ways to highlight it. Next, we did a mapping activity to explore what activities were important to the organization, presently and in the future. A theory of change was created as well as an impact statement. From there we looked at updating their external communications to match their new social impact focus and completed copy for their website as well as a formal annual report.
